Demeter - The Loving Mother

Demeter was the goddess of the harvest and she was also Zeus's sister.  Demeter was the mother of Persephone. Demeter wouldn't sit on her throne unless Persephone was on her lap. Demeter's spouse was Zeus. Her brothers and sisters were Hestia,Hera,Zeus Posiden, and Hades.

Demeter would let her beautiful daughter, Persephone, pick flowers and she got kidnapped by Hades.  Demeter was so upset.   Zeus sent a messenger to find Persephone and she was in the underworld with Hades.  Zeus told Demeter and she cried like a baby.

Hades and Zeus made a deal that Persephone would stay in the underworld for six months every year.  In those six months Demeter cried all of the time.  She was miserable. After six months, Persephone came back to Demeter and she was overjoyed to have her gorgeous daughter  back in her presence.
